The Organisation

4eden Is a local charity that provides support services throughout the Eden Valley, Appleby and Keswick from our offices based in Penrith. Our services and businesses provide bespoke support for children, young people and adults, who have additional learning needs.

We believe in supporting individuals to access and integrate within the local community and enable people to access the wider community, by assisting individuals with social skills and providing the opportunity to live and experience an ordinary life, as independently as possible.
Skilled and experienced support staff who are trained to meet individual needs, are at the forefront to our services.

We’re currently looking for Life skill Support Workers and Supported Living Co-ordinators to join us and support the delivery of our supported living service. There are a number of opportunities available including bank, part-time and full-time hours, Monday – Sunday, 7am–10pm. Sleep positions also available.

Position Catering Co-ordinator
Responsible to Service Manager & Chief Officer
Hours of work Monday – Sunday  37hours pw (Flexible to meet business needs)
Salary scale 19,000.00 – 24,000.00

MAIN DUTIES

  • Day-to-day coordination of cafe/bakery; working with mentor, baker and café team leader to ensure both businesses are effective and efficient.
  • Hands on at Café & Bakery to ensure full business needs and operations.
  • To plan & cost menu’s and ordering of catering supplies for café and bakery.
  • To maintain the product list and costings, develop and expand product ranges.
  • Increase external customers (shops/café’s/outlets)
  • Expand café operations and explore evening openings, special events catering and new product lines for retail.
  • Holds with the catering budget and ensuring costs are managed
  • Assist to complete banking duties
  • Lead on food preparation and presentation
  • To ensure the quality and consistency of products produced and sold
  • Day to day operational decisions, delegation of work, monitoring of rotas and covering sickness, maintaining records and associated paperwork
  • Ensures and maintains appropriate stock levels and prepared goods for a 2-week operation in absence of team leader
  • Operates within health, hygiene, food preparation and cooking procedures
  • Ensures safe use of kitchen equipment and ensures all HACCP controls are being adhered to, records and monitors working practices and cooking methods, maintaining the 5-star hygiene rating from the Food standards agency/EDC scores on the doors ratings.
  • To ensure cleaning standards are exceptionally high as expected by the company (Training and guidance will be given to achieve this essential requirement)
  • Managing, maintaining and increasing turnover of café / bakery takings
  • Liaising with external suppliers / potential customers
  • Assist in the development of dynamic marketing strategies for the café and bakery

Health & Safety

  • To ensure that all work by you & your team are safely carried out within 4Eden’s H&S policy and the Health & Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation.
  • To complete and continually monitor and update risk assessments and promote positive risk taking, to audit current risk assessments on a regular  basis
  • To complete accident/incident forms and observational charts as required
  • To follow through all accident and incident forms & charts via their required channels, ensuring that all outcomes are correctly documented and communicated

Supervisory

  • To discuss the appropriate use of staffing resources with line Manager in line with contractual & legal requirements, informing immediately when an emergency arises

Administration & Finance

  • To ensure that all record keeping is carried out in line with Eden policies.
  • To provide personal information needed by 4 Eden so that legal requirements can be met.
  • To adhere to 4Eden finance policy and ensure that all systems are effectively monitored.
  • To ensure that all information within the service is dealt with in line with 4Eden policy on Confidentiality.
  • To ensure that you have read and understood all relevant 4Eden policies and procedures.

Relationships & Communication

  • To work as an integral member of the team
  • To ensure good communication channels with staff, service users, customers, suppliers and partners
  • To respect and support all people regardless of nationality, sex, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, culture, age, sexual orientation, marital status or disability including the spiritual and cultural beliefs and wishes.

Service user support

  • To record and report any situation which is in conflict with the individuals autonomy, rights and best interests
  • To follow the medications policy & procedure.
  • To immediately record and inform your line manager of any complaint received regarding staffing or support services

General

  • You are required to adhere to the strictest rules of confidentiality in respect of all matters relating to the individuals supported, their parent/carers and families, trustees of 4 Eden and all staff employed by 4Eden, whilst working for 4Eden and after employment has ceased.
  • To take responsibility for your own professional development. Attending training as necessary.
  • To drive a company vehicle or own vehicle to meet the business needs.
  • To carry out other duties that may reasonable be requested and judged to be within your skills and abilities.
  • To undertake an annual appraisal with your line manager

 

Catering Co-ordinator Person Specification

  • Previous working experience as a catering co-ordinator or similar, for at least 1 year
  • Experience in working with people with disabilities
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Ability to inspire and motivate
  • Lead, Coach, Mentor and develop staff
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Additional hours may be required as needed by the business
  • Must be able to drive

What we are looking for are energetic individuals who are passionate about people. We need you to be you and help others be themselves, living independent lives the way they want to. We need you to encourage, inspire, and simply be there walking alongside, enjoying everyday life. Enable an ordinary life free from rules but guided by boundaries, and help guide through this strange world we all live in. We at 4Eden are so proud of our local community and we want to engage and expand our community to people from all walks of life and show everyone what a great Eden welcome we can give them.

We are embarking on a new project and we need 2 full-time Coordinators – a new property and a great young man who is looking for a new life, to experience all that his community has to offer. You will need experience of working with people who have mental health challenges and who are on the autistic spectrum. This young man (early 30’s) is so ready to live an ordinary life, mange his own house, learn new skills – he loves pigs and tigers. He wants to learn how to cook – he makes amazing tomato soup and he loves cheese scones and chocolate cake – so there will be no shortage of tasty treats to sample. He wants to explore his new home and community and get involved in lots of new activities, you won’t be standing around you will be in there with him, making sure he has every opportunity to live his life to the full.

Come an learn more about this chap – intense support in the early days and then looking for housemates to share his home will be the next opportunity – now that’s got to be tempting offer – being a part of changing lives for the better – a real sense of accomplishment and that that ‘feel good factor’ – now we all need some of that after the year we’ve had!

Our Services
4Eden believes that support at home should be just that.  We enable people to live in a home of their choice with people who they choose to live with.  We support the person within their assessed level of needs, developing independent living skills to enable people to achieve their goals, explore opportunities, increase independence and reach their potential.

Day Opportunities
4Eden provides a range of group and individual activities based within designated buildings and using local community resources.  The aim of these is to support and promote independence, social and employable skills.  People will be supported to work towards individual and group outcomes.
